13 Best Reasons To Visit Mombasa NOW!
Whenever you hear of Kenya, you’ll usually hear the word ‘magical’ follow shortly after. That’s because visiting Kenya, (Mombasa to be exact) is not only unreal but it most definitely will have something over you, leaving you in love – and in my case… falling deep in love after you’ve left! There are plenty of things to do in Mombasa so here are my 13 best reasons to visit:

13) The weather! In Mombasa it’s hot all the time, the skies and clouds are clear and the weather is cheerful.
12) Mombasa has a number of beaches, with Diani beach ranking the highest in Kenya, and even high amongst popular beaches across the world.
11) There are so many things to do in Mombasa. You could do a short safari, visit the city mall or any shopping centre, and the UNESCO world heritage site ‘Fort Jesus’.
Magical Mombasa…
10) Everybody’s on island time. No rushing, pushing, or shoving, or getting squashed on the bustling streets. Mombasa is warm, welcoming, and friendly.
9) Mombasa is rich in history, culture, and has some of the best wildlife.
8) The diaspora is definitely ever-growing! Travel to Mombasa feels authentic, and like a step back in time, but you’ll be sure to spot or bump into some expats – possibly even from your home country!
7) Visit the Sheldrick Falls waterfall in your Shimba Hills Safari. Most people choose the Tsava East National Park Safari which is fine. Perfect if you want to see the big 5, but if you’ve done a safari before why not mix it up a bit and go for a short safari, which is the Shimba Hills Safari. You’ll experience a game drive, see the zebras, monkeys, deer, antelopes and then hike to the beautiful waterfall. Oh, and a full three course meal is included in Martin’s Tour.
6) Do a boat trip across the Kenyan coast. We didn’t do this but someone I knew did and said it was the most awesome experience and they saw the most picturesque view. You’ll most likely visit Mombasa Beach, Diani Beach, Watamu and Malindi – Kenya’s hotspots!
5) Mombasa is the perfect city, blending both bustling and lively, but also chilled and welcoming. You’ll blend right in, as the city is as friendly as the people! It’s a perfect mixture of both vibes.
4) Mombasa is a bucket list destination. Not just Diani beach with the rich white sands and turquoise blue waters, but Mombasa offer some amazing safari packages and the most delightful Swahili cuisine.
3) Mombasa actually has a buzzing nightlife – lots of bars around. (If you like that sort of thing.) Beach bars open till late so you can enjoy a drink, a game of pool, and a meal with a spectacular view!
2) Try some tropical fruits! Mombasa’s the first place i’ve ever tried Red BaoBob. Baobab is a fruit from the Baobab tree. It’s usually consumed as a powder, (when the fruit’s been dried) but in Mombasa you’ll be able to pick up a bag, or box in the Old Town market. I also picked up some jackfruit, which was absolutely delicious. Baobab is rich in anti-oxidants, it’s microbial and can even treat fevers. It’s packed with vitamin C, can lower blood levels and oh, it taste just like candy!
1) Mombasa is magic! I am a child of God, so magic is not my ideal word choice, but Mombasa is the only country I have visited where I fell in love after I left. Mombasa is truly magical, you cannot visit and be left unchanged!
